Full-Time Computational Biologist: high-throughput data analysis and statistical modelling
For BIMSB Bioinformatics Platform, we are looking for one Computational Biologist high-throughput data analysis and statistical modelling.
You will be responsible for data analysis and method development for genomics data sets including but not limited to high-throughput sequencing datasets. You will be interacting and collaborating with BIMSB research groups as well as supporting research in computational epigenomics and gene regulation within the platform.
Applicants should have PhD degree in computational genomics, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics or equivalent. We are looking for talented researchers with a proven track record in bioinformatics, specifically in computational genomics. The ideal candidate should have excellent programming skills for data analysis preferably in R and in one of the scripting languages such as Perl/Python. In addition, experience in C/C++ would be beneficial and highly desirable. Statistics and machine learning course work and/or demonstrated application of those in previous research is also necessary. Experience and/or interest in database technologies (SQL and/or noSQL), traditional high-performance computing clusters and newer technologies such as Hadoop would be a plus.
