Full-TimeData Scientist for protecting patients’ medical data
NOTE: This job listing has expired and may no longer be relevant!
Our start-up, Protenus, is tackling a huge problem in healthcare: a dangerous lack of patient privacy in the electronic medical record. We are looking for individuals to join our team who have a passion for data analysis, and want to apply that passion to protect patient data.
We are hiring brilliant, creative, and independent data scientists to develop novel solutions to current “big data” problems in Health IT security. True to the definition of a scientist, we need team members that can generate novel, interesting hypotheses about malicious behavior in hospital enterprise data systems, and anticipate and defend patients against these threats. This role won’t be a fit for just anyone – you’ll be given the opportunity to set your own daring goals, and then execute on these goals with your team.
Our ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of machine learning, dynamic network analysis, and statistical inference. The ability to write efficient code to analyze large data sets is a must, and though we would prefer a full stack data scientist, we are agnostic as to the tools you use to work your magic. Database construction and management are important skills given the volume and variety of information we will be analyzing. Knowledge of security and privacy technologies, as well as Healthcare IT, would all be advantageous in this position but are not explicit requirements.
We are searching not just for an employee, but for a partner that could contribute meaningfully to the vision of our company. The co-founders are two unconventional Johns Hopkins medical students, with previous lives, respectively, in Special Operations intelligence, and the hedge fund industry. In addition to joining our team of talented data scientists, you will have the opportunity to collaborate directly with our advisors, who range from top-tier hospital executives, to experienced Health IT entrepreneurs, to distinguished professors of information security. Our company has traction, capital, and will transform patient privacy on a global scale.
How to ApplyIf you think that this is the type of challenge and opportunity that you would be excited about, please contact Nick Culbertson (email@example.com).
