Job Description

The Office of Population Research (OPR) at Princeton University has an immediate opening for a statistical programmer.

The successful candidate will assist faculty and graduate students with the data management and data analysis of large-scale survey and census data and will help train graduate students in statistical programming using Stata and R.

The successful candidate will also develop and present computing workshops and may be responsible for maintaining some of the OPR software infrastructure such as a website and data archive.

Position Requires:

– Bachelor’s Degree

– Strong statistical programming background

– Expert knowledge of either Stata or R, and preferably at least some experience with both

– Experience with quantitative research in a social science discipline or in public policy or public health

– Some familiarity with relational database and web tools (eg. SQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript)

– Experience working in a mixed computing environment that includes Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems

– Ability to learn new programming languages and technical skills and introduce new computing techniques to the OPR research community

– Strong customer service orientation

– Good problem-solving skills

– Ability to work on several projects simultaneously

– Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred:

– Advanced degree
