Job Description


Northland College, an environmentally-committed liberal arts college on the shores of Lake Superior, is searching for a one-year teaching fellow in Mathematical Sciences (Statistics) to begin in September 2014. The fellow will contribute to a variety of the College’s curricula through teaching introductory Mathematics and Applied Statistics as part of a vibrant and collaborative Environmental Sciences department, including Mathematical Sciences, Biology, and Natural Resources majors, and our Natural Connections integrated liberal education program.

Position Description

The teaching load is one section of Precalculus and two sections of (Introductory) Statistical Concepts and Analysis for the fall semester, and one section of Calculus I and two sections of Statistical Concepts and Analysis for the winter semester. All courses are 4-5 contact hours per week and are capped at 30 students. The statistics course uses R and current course materials can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/ncstats/. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in gaining teaching experience while finalizing a dissertation.

Position Qualifications

Individuals who have recently earned a Ph.D. or are ABD in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Education, or a related field, are encouraged to apply
