Full-Time Applied Statistics Position @ Florida U.S.
New College of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Professor position in Applied Statistics, starting in August 2018. A Ph.D. in applied statistics or a related applied field (in the natural or social sciences) is required. Successful candidates must be able to teach modern, graduate-level statistics courses (statistical inference and Bayesian statistics) using R. Postdoctoral or teaching experience is preferred and consulting experience is desirable. We seek an individual to help create an innovative Data Science Program in a liberal arts context. We are looking for candidates capable of designing and teaching courses and guiding research at both the undergraduate and graduate level in a highly interdisciplinary setting. The teaching load is two courses per semester plus sponsoring individual and group tutorials. In addition to classes and tutorials, faculty members provide academic advising, supervise independent study projects, sponsor senior undergraduate theses/projects, sponsor master’s level projects, and serve on baccalaureate committees. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a program of research. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to innovative undergraduate liberal arts teaching.
