ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF DATA SYSTEMS AND ANALYTICS

Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Data Systems & Analytics will be an entrepreneurial, data-savvy expert able to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment, and be a quick learner. The position will support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of data systems and processes to better serve schools, district stakeholders, and parents. Traveling to various schools in the city will be required on an infrequent basis. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
Salary
$60,400 – $75,400
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works with key team members at the school level, charter management level, and at the OPSB to ensure compliance with enrollment expectations, including the creation of guidance documents;
  • Supports the development and maintenance of secondary and post-secondary success monitoring tools;
  • Reviews course codes, graduation rosters, and strength of diploma metrics to ensure accurate accountability measures;
  • Supports youth program providers with accurate reporting and compliant data sharing;
  • Analyzes enrollment, demographic, and performance data to identify trends and provide insights to drive continued improvement and diversity of the citywide portfolio of schools and services;
  • Supports ad hoc data and analytic requests as assigned utilizing Python, R, SQL, Excel and/or PowerBI;
  • Develops documentation on components, processes, and activities related to data systems and analytical tools;
  • Conducts routine maintenance of the data warehouse and related data systems;
  • Builds capacity for district-wide analytics across the organization through supporting integration of new and existing data systems;
  • Identifies additional areas for expansion and improvement of our datasets;
  • Provides support, trainings, and resources to schools as needed; and
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Information Management or other related degree preferred.
  • Three years of professional experience with data analysis strongly preferred
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or Julia preferred;
  • Proficient in joining data sets across multiple identifiers;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate meaningful information to internal and external audiences;
  • Comfort with analyzing, managing, and processing large sets of data; working knowledge of data systems and their underlying data architecture. Experience using batch update tools to process database actions preferred;
  • Experience working with student data preferred;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
