Data Science/Biomedical Engineering

A post-doctoral researcher in Data Science/Biomedical Engineering is required to conduct independent research in the area of successful ageing using data from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), and to play a critical role in the investigation and implementation of novel health measures for future waves of data collection in TILDA. The investigator will join a vibrant inter-disciplinary team – including epidemiologists, biostatisticians, economists, social scientists, biomedical engineers and clinicians – working toward the promotion of successful ageing.

The successful candidate will join a growing data analytics and bioengineering team within the TILDA health research strand. Key responsibilities will include design and application of novel quantitative approaches to analyzing the current and future waves of the TILDA dataset with a view to identifying novel biomarkers and modifiable risk factors of age-related conditions. Furthermore he/she will work in close collaboration with other TILDA data scientists, biomedical engineers and health researchers to develop new scientific approaches and methods to support future waves of the study and will be expected to work from specific device level through to systems level. The need for further studies, including pilot studies, involving subsamples of the TILDA population may arise from hypotheses developed by this investigators research. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying funding calls, support such studies and developing proposals to same.

This appointment will be made on the IUA Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Pay Scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy
