The DPI is currently seeking applicants for Education Consultant – Education Statistics & Reporting position. This position is located at 125 South Webster Street in Madison, WI.
This position provides expert leadership for state and federal accountability policy, coordinates, reviews, directs, and evaluates progress in districts and schools related to academic performance and progress obligations under the Elementary & Secondary Education Act (ESEA) accountability rules and section 115.38, Wisconsin Statutes.
This position involves interpreting and complying with federal and state laws related to assessment and accountability, including providing communications and technical support on these topics to agency staff as well as schools and districts. Further, the position involves statistical analysis of large data sets and the design of evaluation systems for schools, districts, and educators. This position also develops interpretive reports and communications of findings to a range of audiences including policy makers, educators, and the general public. These issues require the ability to formulate research questions, gather data, perform analysis, and document and communicate results. This consultant provides extensive intra-department consultation and communication on the national, state, and local levels.
The work of this position falls into four areas:
- Policy and strategy: Recommendations related to measurement and implementation of state content standards, assessment, and accountability requirements at the school, district, and state levels.
- Statewide systems of evaluation: Development, implementation, and support of school, district, and state educational accountability under state and federal laws.
- Technical assistance: Provide to school, district, Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA), and department staff support and guidance regarding use of educational data to plan for improvements in student learning and school performance.
- Reporting: Design, develop, synthesize, analyze, and report data including accountability results to various local, regional, state, and federal educational agencies.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: school data, data collection, statistical analysis, program evaluation, and data interpretation for school improvement efforts; educational policy issues as well as federal and state laws relating to assessment and accountability. Ability to: analyze large data sets and present results in a variety of formats (written, oral) to meet audience needs; use statistical software such as R, STATA, Excel, Access, or similar software to analyze data. Skill in: oral and written communication.

||Starting salary will be between $27.18 – $38.32 per hour ($56,534 – $79,705 per year). This position is in pay schedule 13, range 02. A six month probationary period is required.
