Job Description

As part of a 3-year ARC Grant on Sensitivity Analysis for Bayesian Inference via Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods we have a position for a research associate with focus on supporting the investigators in the computational and time intensive activities of software development, testing and documentation. It is a full-time position at Level B that commences in January 2018 and is based in the Economics Department of the University of Melbourne. While funding is available for 3 years, we would also consider the fill the position for one or two years starting in January or February 2018.

A key requirement for the position are computing skills in R as a key task for the research associate is to create an R package based on the numerical methods for sensitivity analysis developed under this project. We particularly welcome applications from researchers who have recently completed a PhD in Econometrics or Statistics as the tasks involve implementing new numerical methods for Bayesian statistics and Econometrics. While experience in Bayesian analysis would be extremely helpful, we will also consider applicants with experience in other areas of Econometrics or Statistics.
