Sr. Manager of Content Analytics at Amazon.com (@Seattle)

Amazon.com is seeking an outstanding leader to manage the Content Analytics team in Prime Instant Video to uncover key insights on how consumers watch videos on Amazon. As consumers increasingly consume digital video, we need to make agile decisions based on what content appeals to our customers. As a Senior Manager, Content Analytics at Amazon, you will have the opportunity to work on one of the world’s largest consumer data sets, as well as influence the long term evolution of our analytics capability. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with content acquisition managers to develop and define key business questions, and to build models and data sets that answer those questions. These analyses and models will guide the business decisions by highlighting opportunities, identifying correlations, defining experiments, and determining cause and effect relationships. The team will consist of business intelligence engineers. The manager will leverage the expertise of each individual to construct models, perform analyses, and derive relevant metrics. The manager must have relevant domain knowledge to teach and mentor less experienced group members and to critique models and approaches taken by the group in terms of business relevance, technical validity, and computational performance.

Basic Qualifications

– MS degree in Econometrics, Statistics, Operations Research, Optimization, Data Mining, Analytics, or other quantitative field

– Demonstrated experience leading and building an analytics team for 5 years or more

– Strong experience in developing sound analytics-based solutions to business problems

– Proficiency at querying relational databases (SQL) and ability to pull & integrate data from various sources

– Experience with analytics tools such as SAS or R

– Demonstrated track record in effectively communicating complex analysis and insights to senior leaders both verbally and in writing

– Leadership of experienced scientists and data engineers as well as a successful track record of teaching and developing individuals from academia to grow into successful business analysts

– Ability to manage and quantify improvement in an area of the company’s business resulting from the application of business analytics, statistical models, optimization techniques, and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

– PhD in a quantitative field

– Completed graduate school thesis (or dissertation)

– Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion

– 5+ years professional experience in leading an Analytics team
