I. Decision support platform and model library
Develop/implement a library of decision support models and dynamic visualizations within a web-based “dashboard” decision support platform.
II. Web-based user interface for clinical trial design and dose regimen exploration
Implement a web-based user interface for communicating model results with clinicians:
a. comparing clinical trial designs and outcomes
b. exploring dose regimens by integrating existing knowledge and uncertainties
Requirement: Hands-on experience in Python and libraries related to data processing/analysis, user-interface design and web development. Working experience with R is a plus
III. Bayesian pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD)
a. Develop a core library of Bayesian PK/PD models in the Stan (http://mc-stan.org) modeling language to support the development of drug-disease models.
b. Using this library, extend an existing visual acuity model among age-related macular degeneration (AMD) patients treated with anti-VEGF therapy.
Requirements: Strong computing and statistical inference/modeling background, including R and C/C++ experience (ideally already familiar with Stan).
IV. Automated dataset processing
Build an automated tool to process clinical datasets with associated metadata into appropriate structure, documentation and tracking databases, along with associated test datasets for model simulation.
Requirements: Experienced with SAS, databases, and Linux
V. Mechanistic disease modeling
a. Implement an existing model of blood pressure regulation and renal function for sharing with external groups through the Drug Disease Model Resources consortium – an industry-academic consortium that aims to build and maintain a universally applicable, open source, model based framework for modeling and simulation.
b. Implement and evaluate a semi-mechanistic model for diabetes markers
Requirements: Biomedical engineering, systems biology, or related field, with some modeling experience. Experience with Matlab and/or NONMEM.
All interns must be thorough, committed to completion, and willing to rapidly learn tools as needed to get the job done.
