Healthsparq’s price transparency tools enable the user to determine the approximate cost of a treatment, by choosing the place of service, provider, facility and hence shop thoughtfully for their health care treatment. Research (Aug 2010 – May 2012)

Established a co-culture system of human endothelial cells (hECs) and irradiated mouse hematopoietic cells to study the regeneration of functional mouse HSCs by hECs, following whole body irradiation. Characterized the rescued mouse hematopoietic cells using Flow Cytometry. Transplanted the rescued and cultured mouse hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) after sorting into recipient mice with compromised hematopoietic system, in order to test their multi-lineage reconstitution ability. Assayed for phosphorylated histone variant H2AX by immuno-cytochemistry to quantify DNA double strand breaks in HSPCs following irradiation only and irradiation followed by co-culture with human endothelial cells. Isolated human cord blood stem cells (CD34+) and expanded them ex-vivo.
