Summary

I am an Economics graduate from University of Wisconsin Madison and currently working as Data Consultant to International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group. With certificate of accomplishment in Data Science Tool Box, R programming, Data Extraction and Cleaning from John Hopkins University I am actively using R for computing aggregate statistics for economic modeling in the current position. I have over 8 years of experience in micro data analysis, particularly of household income and consumption survey, labor force surveys at country level. My undergrad degree in Statistics helps me to do any quantitative analysis. Professional experiences include 6 six years in evaluation of development projects in IFC and 4 years in economic research and modeling. Equally efficient in using Stata. I am an avid learner of data science and willing to work in any new but challenging quantitative and data works.

Develop and manage data platform for doing economic modeling for IFC’s operations in the countries

Gather and present macroeconomic data at country level that includes national accounts, trade, debt, monetary, balance of payment, labor and wage etc.

Write programs in R and/or Stata to analyze micro data e.g. Labor Force Survey, Household Income & Expenditure Survey, Enterprise Survey etc using Stata and R

Analyze micro data and compute necessary statistics, e.g. distribution of wage and employment by education, household consumption share to be fed into macro and sector modeling

Do supply and demand analysis of major economic goods and services in order to feed into CGE modeling

Review and summarize applied research around specific topics, e.g. e.g. productivity, wage-earnings profile etc for selected industries in the countries of interest and provide inputs to the modelers

Perform consistency checks, do statistical and econometric analysis as required

Recent performances

Cleaned and prepared Labor Force Survey (LFS) and Household Income & Consumption Expenditure Survey (HICES) data of Ethiopia for 2004, 2005, 2011 and 2013 for computing aggregate statistics by writing Do Files in Stata.

Computed employment and wage statistics, consumption share by industries using LFS and HICES data of Ethiopia.

Worked on Technical Document of Economy Wide Poverty Impact Quantification (EPIQ) Modeling of IFC. Used Latex to write chapters related to technical and empirical estimation.

Prepared an empirical paper on Returns to Education in Philippines by estimating Mincerian Wage Equation. Philippines Labor Force Survey (LFS) from 2001 to 2013 was used for estimating wage equation.

Analyzed and computed consumption statistics from Family Income & Expenditure Survey (FIES) and wage and employment statistics from LFS data of Philippines to support macro modeling founded on micro data.

Constructed world price of trade (net export) and net-export by industries for Philippines and Ethiopia using SQL.

Wrote a program to construct monthly GDP from quarterly data by using GAMS, a modeling software. The program minimizes the sum of the squared jumps in data within specific period.

Analyzed Input-Output, Social Accounting Matrix and constructed intermediate input matrix, labor and capital share in production of outputs by industries for Ethiopia and Philippines covering years 2000, 2005-06, and 2011
