I have a passion for learning and creative problem-solving from my experiences as a successful mathematics graduate and as an educator. I’m eagerly pursuing a career in data analysis where I can apply this passion to wrangle complex data and discover trends, being proficient in Excel (including pivot tables, vlookups, etc.) and having analyzed data with Python, SQLite, and R. The data analysis projects I have done as a Udacity student are available in the projects section as an example of my skills.
I have rigorous analytical skills and bring attention to detail to all of my work. As a mathematics student at the University of Minnesota, I demonstrated this as a grader for advanced mathematics courses, which resulted in my being recommended for a graduate TA position as an undergraduate. I graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics because I love learning, learn quickly, and am highly motivated; I have continued to learn through my studies at Udacity.
I had pursued a career as an educator because I wanted to help other people love learning. As a teacher, guided others through complex concepts and procedures to foster deep understanding, and accurately assessed their learning. I anticipated misconceptions and prevented them through thoughtfully constructed examples and activities.
Although I decided to pursue a more technically challenging career, my experiences in the education field have caused me to highly value a collaborative, diverse work environment, clear communication with my coworkers, and opportunities for feedback and reflection. My coworkers and supervisors consistently observed that I respond to feedback very well and readily make changes to improve.
