Summary

Develop customized analytical tools to manage and explore scientific datasets using the R scripting language.

Education

I received my bachelors and masters of science in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Davis in 2007 and 2010, respectively. I received my doctorate at the University of Houston in 2014 as a National Science Foundation Gk-12 fellow. I am currently a post-doctoral scholar at the Air Quality Research Center of the University of California, Davis where we develop custom R packages and web apps for data visualization, validation, and reporting.

Experience

I work both in the data analysis and validation team of my research group as well as independently as the principle investigator for grants I have acquired from various government agencies (e.g. Environmental Protection Agency, National Science Foundation). For the data analysis and validation team, I wrote and support a custom R package that collects data from SQL databases and online repositories, performs automated data validation checks, and produces graphical outputs for the data validator. It also produces deliverable output files that are uploaded to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Air Quality System database for public dissemination. Independently, I produce custom R tools, web apps, and packages to explore my measurement results to better understand the trace and ultra-trace chemical composition of air pollutants.
