Data Scientist Senior – Machine Vision

 
Our Claims Team
Delivering strategically impactful products, our claims data science team is focused on improving our claims process for both employees and customers. The solutions and techniques driven by our team continue to influence data science teams across the company.
 
Your Role on the Team
As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll rely on your machine vision experience to solve complex business problems with terabyte scale datasets. Taking on wide-ranging business questions, you’ll research and implement novel solutions. Your final products could range from the design of predictive models to sophisticated visualizations and decision-support tools delivered through the development of user-facing web applications. We’re looking for a data scientist experienced in applied frameworks such as Keras and Lasagne as well as backends such as TensorFlow and Theano in a professional context.
 
Must Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with quantitative focus in Econometrics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science or related field and two to five years of relevant experience in Statistical Modeling, Machine Learning and processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data
  • Instead of a degree, four to six years of relevant experience in Statistical/Quantitative Modeling and/or Machine Learning tools and in using various database tools processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data
  • Two to four years of experience with mathematical model creation and/or evaluation, hypothesis testing and experimental design
 
What we look for
  • One year of practical machine vision experience using python based ML libraries and frameworks is preferred
  • A passion for empirical research and answering difficult questions with data
  • Proficiency in at least one higher level programming language such as Python or R
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to a wide range of audiences
  • Solid project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight and potentially changing deadlines in a high-paced and dynamic environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform in an ambiguous environment and to work with multiple stakeholders from various business units
  • Experience using Linux, cloud computing, and Hadoop is a plus
  • Experience with the GIT version control system and working with github.com is a plus
  • Experience developing web applications using frameworks such as Flask, Node.js, Angular and Bootstrap is a plus
