Job Description

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Pricing Analytics Manager in achieving the following:
    • Develop and maintain pricing models to price existing and new product lines to meet business targets
    • Develop processes to enable the analysis of performance on a real-time basis so that pricing strategy can be optimised
    • Develop processes to enable the impact (on GWP and loss ratio) of alternative pricing strategies to be quantified
    • Development and maintenance of models leading to end consumer (individual) pricing, through understanding customer lifetime value
      • Using price optimisation techniques (optimising volume, premium and loss ratio performance)
      • Allowing for both new business take up and retention
      • By multi way interactions, e.g. customer attributes, broker behaviour, price elasticity, etc.
  • Facilitation of growth plans, assisting targeted marketing and cross selling strategies
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of pricing techniques appropriate for the business
  • Work closely with other key areas such as Finance, Claims and Underwriting to ensure that all business areas become aware of developments with pricing and are able to incorporate any findings in a timely fashion
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis of data as required
  • Presentation of reports outlining findings and communicating key results to stakeholders
  • Identify, develop and implement controls to ensure that data and models are accurate and fit for purpose
  • Enhancement of Rural’s data resources by improved collection and storage of data which it already has access to as well as by accessing externally sourced data
  • Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of the Rural business model, the environment in which it operates and the products and services Rural provides
  • Develop a strong network of contacts within the business

TECHNICAL SKILLS DESIRED

  • Numerate degree and/or progressing with actuarial exams
  • Experience of working for a general insurer (or similar) in an analytical role
  • Capable of developing statistical models for use in pricing insurance
  • Excellent software skills with proficiency in one or more of R, SQL, Version Control, Excel, VBA, SAS, computer programming.
  • Very strong analytical and problem solving abilities and can break down complex problems into simpler steps
  • Ability to identify and resolve unusual features/problems with data
  • Can communicate complex matters both verbally and written to both a technical and a non-technical audience
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, working effectively both within a team and independently.
  • Works with initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritise workloads
