Job Description

The Opportunity

Join a growing Credit Hedge Fund in the FinTech space with a stellar 3- year track record. We are a small team of seasoned professionals looking to bring on a bright, motivated recent college grad with strong coding skills. The role combines elements of data science/engineering, machine learning, heavy software development, workflow automation, algorithmic trading and quantitative investment development. This is an opportunity to get in the door at an emerging hedge fund, get trained by experienced investment professionals, make an immediate contribution and build a career path into data science or systematic investment management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our Director of Quantitative Strategies on building out our data infrastructure; design and develop an automated data pipeline that ingests, cleans and warehouses all research and portfolio data; own and ensure all datasets are error-free
  • Day-to-Day development, maintenance and monitoring of workflow automation underlying our investment process
  • Design and develop reusable, well-documented and version controlled code
  • Support the development of cutting-edge valuation, risk, strategy back-testing, and machine learning models; Productionalize prototypes, develop in-house analytics software libraries
  • Individual must be able to distill business logic from non-technical team members and translate into algorithmic infrastructure
  • Manage, analyze and develop algorithmic trading applications

Skills & Experience – Essential

  • 4+ years development experience on the Linux/open-source stack in several languages: R (mandatory), SQL, Java/C/C++, Python, Matlab, shell
  • Comfortable analyzing large datasets – collect, parse, clean, pipelining, DB schema design, statistical analysis
  • Bachelor’s Degree in CS, Math or similar computational discipline
  • Recent college grad with substantial internship/work experience; Finance experience is not required

Skills & Experience – Desirable

  • statistical, econometric, and/or machine learning modelling experience
  • experience with R data.table package
  • experience with ec2/cloud and hpc/cluster computing environments and tools
  • experience generating automated analytics reporting/dashboards (eg. knitR, sweave, shinyR)
  • familiarity with big data technologies such as hadoop, mapReduce, spark
  • experience with workflow automation tools such as cron, airflow, condor
  • developing to RESTful APIs
