Job Description

Position Summary:

KFF (Kaiser Family Foundation), a non-profit organization, is a leader in health policy analysis, polling and survey research, health journalism and communication, dedicated to filling the need for trusted information on national health issues.  KFF serves as a non-partisan source of facts, information, and analysis for policymakers, the media, the health care community, and the public.

The Health Care Marketplace Program conducts original research and analyses on a range of health policy topics, most of which focus on the private market for health care services and health care costs, including topics such as employer-sponsored health insurance, the individual health insurance market, health care cost trends in the U.S. and internationally, tax credits, health industry trends, implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and prescription drug spending. The program designs, conducts, analyzes, and produces the annual KFF Employer Health Benefits Survey, which provides nationally recognized benchmarks for premiums, cost sharing and other attributes of employer-sponsored coverage in the United States.

The Data Analyst will work in a team environment, with a primary focus on tasks associated with the annual employer health benefits survey, including assisting with sampling, updating and implementing the survey instrument, programming, analysis, and publication of results. The Analyst will also work on other projects that involve quantitative analyses, background research, writing and synthesizing results.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with project staff on the development, implementation, and publication of the annual employer health benefits survey, including management of contracts with vendors and outreach to respondents, assisting with development of the survey instrument, analysis of results, and publication of findings. This includes website management, data checking and quality assurance as well as interaction with public data users.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Work with project staff to develop, produce, and disseminate reports and other publications.
  • Respond to requests from policymakers, media, and researchers for information.
  • Perform background research and literature reviews; and
  • Prepare various forms of graphs, tables, and summary reports based on survey data and other qualitative and quantitative information.

Minimum Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree plus work experience in a related field.
  • Quantitative research, analytic, writing, and communication skills; attention to detail is essential.
  • Proficiency in R (preferred) or other statistical applications such as STATA and SAS; experience with SQL a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently on concurrent projects; and
  • Proficiency of MS Office applications.

This full-time position will be based in KFF’s Washington, DC office, located downtown near Metro Center. KFF is currently working a hybrid schedule and requires all staff to work in the office a minimum of 2 days a week, with a longer-term hybrid policy of 3 days per week.

Compensation

KFF provides a compensation package that is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Data Analyst position is an exempt position, and the annual salary range is between $80,000 and $90,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s years of experience and our practice of upholding salary equity within the organization.
