Clinical Biostatistics is seeking a statistical research associate (SRA) to support studies conducted within the Clinical Research Division (CRD) of Fred Hutch. The Clinical Biostatistics department is composed of 6 faculty members, 4 SRAs, and 5 programmers/data managers. The group conducts collaborative statistical research related to clinical research projects for Fred Hutch / UW Consortium members. In collaboration with CRD principal investigators, the department is responsible for the design and analysis of Phase I, II and III clinical trials and the analysis of data from observational studies related to hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and solid tumor research.

Responsibilities

This position will work closely with a PI and research team from CRD on studies focused on chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and long-term follow-up research after HCT. Responsibilities will include study design, creation of data-cleaning programs, primary and secondary analyses of clinical, epidemiological, and high-dimensional molecular data, and sample identification from the biorepository based on clinical characteristics. Participating centers are located in the US and Canada, and studies are funded by NIH. This position will also involve collaboration with studies conducted by the breast cancer group within the CRD and Fred Hutch / UW Consortium, providing analyses of clinical and high-dimensional molecular data. The successful candidate will be supervised and supported by the faculty and programming staff within Clinical Biostatistics, but will be expected to be able to work independently, grasp the biologic fundamentals of the target diseases, and enjoy being a key member of a very active research consortium.

Qualifications

  • MS in Statistics or Biostatistics required
  • Experience working in the biomedical field
  • Competency with SAS and R; familiarity with other statistical software packages (i.e., Stata) preferred
  • Strong programming skills required
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as ability to juggle multiple projects required
  • Must be able to clearly convey complicated statistical concepts to non-quantitative scientists
  • Strong writing skills required
  • Must be able to work independently and with a diverse group of people
