Full-Time Data Management Analyst II @ Gainesville, Florida, U.S.
The employee in this position will be the primary data manager and statistical analyst working with faculty investigators and their research staff and students in the Department of Health Education and Behavior (HEB) in the College of Health and Human Performance at the University of Florida.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Data management and security: This position will be responsible for managing data collected from multiple community-based studies on health behavior. The employee will write data-handling programs that best facilitate data linkage and analysis to compile multiple databases, develop specialized data sets for specific research projects, and create and maintain new database systems for the incoming data. The employee will help resolve data-related issues by actively seeking various resources, such as old data documentation, online resources etc., and contacting collaborators in and outside of the research group. Some data management activities will require learning new software and programming procedures and stay abreast of data security and data sharing regulations. The employee will maintain secure data files and documentation.
Perform statistical analyses, organize and interpret results: The employee will analyze quantitative data from multiple research projects, including longitudinal data on various health behaviors. This will involve applying intermediate statistical and technical skills in the design and analysis of behavioral research studies, identifying analytic procedures suitable for the data properties and research questions, and assisting the faculty investigators with complex statistical analyses and technical support in multiple statistical software programs (e.g., SAS, SPSS). This may require learning new software programs and techniques (e.g., Mplus, R).
Generate summary statistical reports: The employee will participate in the preparation of analysis results for manuscripts, grant applications, conference presentations. The employee will also contribute to methods and results sections of manuscripts for publication.
Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
Master’s degree in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Quantitative Psychology, or related field; or a bachelor’s degree in a related area and two years of experience described in the position duties with an emphasis on research.
Advanced knowledge and skill in statistical software packages (SAS, SPSS).
Individuals with the following experience are preferred:
– Research experience in the application of complex statistical techniques to behavioral data in observational and evaluation studies
– Experience with longitudinal data sets and analysis
– Knowledge and skill to use structural equation modeling software (e.g., Mplus, R)
– Experience with economic/behavioral economic variables and analytic techniques
– Experience in supervising research staff and students in data entry, quality control, and related tasks in research settings
Expected Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000.
